Bahrain Traditions
Hi,I would like to tell you a bit of Bahrain. As you all know Bahrain is an island located in the Middle East. Let's talk to you about the traditions here...
- Clothing, the two main things that women in Bahrain wear are; a type of long colourful material called a "Jalabiya". Another kind of clothing is a black gown worn by the women known as the "Abbaya". Although man wear a long white thing called "Thouwb", and wear a similar cap on the head with a white striped cloth called "Ghittrah and Ougall".
- Music and Dances, in old days men used drums and old-fashioned-arabic guitars called "Ouad" to play their music, although the men whom were dancing tried to make simple steps and dances to not get dehydrated without the Air Conditioning.
- Celebrations, Bahrain celebrates two main Islamic celebrations and they are; 1- The Eid-AlFitir which happens after we fast for thirty days (Ramadan). 2- Eid-AlHajj and this happens whenever the Muslim people visit God's house (Allah's House, in Mekka, Saudi Arabia), so whenever they finish the trip we celebrate by them coming back.
We also celebrate on our National day, which is held on the 16th of December.
